Masks

We put on a lot of masks for a lot of different people. A mask to show our parents, another mask to show our teachers, another mask amongst our friends, but when we're by ourselves, and there's no one around, and we remove the mask - what's underneath?

How do you express yourself - how do you show others, or maybe just yourself, who your true self really is? How do you keep sight of it - and make sure your vision of yourself, isn't altered by someone else?

that link does not work for me.

this concept or point of view is called "dramaturgical". In Sociology, Erving Goffman made it popular. He has a book called "The Presentation of Self in Everyday Life" which talks about this.
